Scene 4 The patient

The scene takes place in the waiting room of the diabetic clinic some time later. The patient has been referred again by her doctor.

While watching the video, you will find it helpful to note:

• • what the patient remembers from her previous appointment;
• • her expectations of this appointment;
• • her attitude towards seeing the dietitian again.

Some points to consider

• • How do you think the patient is feeling?
• • How are you feeling towards the patient?
• • What do you want to say to her?
• • How are you feeling towards the dietitian?
• • What do you want to say to her?
• • How optimistic is the patient (on a scale of 0 to 10) about her appointment with the dietitian?
