Case 39: A Patient with ‘Droopiness’ of the Right Side of the Face
CASE
A 28‐year‐old soldier presented 3 weeks after battlefield manoeuvres involving forest and open plain. Three days previously he had woken with ‘droopiness’ of the right side of his face. The next day he began to feel generally unwell with flu‐like symptoms. He began to experience an unpleasant pain in a band‐like distribution across his abdomen and back. On examination he had clear evidence of a right facial nerve palsy but in addition subtle evidence of a left facial palsy.
