Case 38: A Patient Whose Leg ‘Gives Way’
CASE
A 48‐year‐old woman presents to her GP with a 2‐day history of her right leg ‘giving way’. Three months earlier she had been diagnosed with Dukes B colon carcinoma and underwent a hemicolectomy. The postoperative recovery had been complicated by a deep venous thrombosis and she had been warfarinized. On examination she has isolated weakness of knee extension, an absent right knee jerk and was slightly tender on deep abdominal palpation.
