Case 32: A Patient Who Cannot Move His Legs After an Operation
CASE
A 48‐year‐old man undergoes a coronary artery bypass graft procedure. Twenty‐four hours post‐operatively concerns are raised when he complains he cannot move his legs. On examination he has a symmetrical flaccid paralysis and is areflexic. He has impaired light touch and pinprick below the upper abdomen. Examination of vibration and joint position sense in the feet is normal.
