Case 23: A Patient with Rapidly Progressive Unsteadiness
CASE
A 70‐year‐old woman presents with rapidly progressive unsteadiness and cognitive change such that she goes from normal independence to needing help with dressing in 6 weeks. On examination she has ataxia and brief low‐amplitude jerks of her hands. An MRI scan of the brain is said to be normal for her age. Two weeks later she is unable to walk and her speech has reduced to single words.
