Case 12: A Patient with Intermittent Palpitations
CASE
A 74‐year‐old man attends the general medical outpatient clinic with a 3‐month history of intermittent palpitations. He is also complaining of an increasing frequency of frontal headaches and general fatigue. His appetite and weight are steady and bowel habits normal. Physical examination shows pale mucous membranes but is otherwise unremarkable.
Blood tests showed:
Hb 7.9 g/dL MCV 71 fL WCC 6.5 × 109/L PLT 620 × 109/L Electrolytes Normal Bilirubin 12 µmol/L ALT 15 U/L ALP 580 U/L
Calcium and inflammatory markers normal
