Case 19: A Patient with Malaise and Fever Following a Tick Bite
CASE
A 46‐year‐old woman attended her general practice with a 1‐week history of malaise, general body ache and fever. Further questioning revealed that she had been in the New Forest 3 weeks ago and recalls been bitten on her leg. A week later she developed an expanding rash. She denied any respiratory, gastrointestinal or cardiovascular symptoms.
Examination revealed a low‐grade pyrexia of 37.5°C. You note a non‐tender, erythematous, annular rash on her right buttock. Examination of her cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal and central nervous system was normal.
