Case 7: A Patient with Possible Cushing's Syndrome
CASE
A 35‐year‐old woman is referred to outpatients with a 6–12‐month history of weight gain (approximately 7 kg), amenorrhoea, hirsutism and a suggested diagnosis of Cushing's syndrome. Closer questioning reveals labile moods and difficulty sleeping. On examination you note a rounded face and acne. There are pink striae on the abdomen and axillae. Despite the weight gain, her legs and arms are relatively slim, and she has great difficulty climbing onto the couch. Her BP is 160/105 mmHg.
