Case 14: A Patient with Confusion and Vomiting
CASE
A 50‐year‐old woman is transferred with a 7‐day history of increasing confusion and vomiting. She is markedly dehydrated and is noted to be favouring her left side. Urgent investigations show a blood glucose of 50 mmol/L, urine dipstick 1+ ketones, arterial blood gas (ABG) bicarbonate 20 mmol/L and pH 7.35.
