Case 21: A Patient with Renal Failure
CASE
A 64‐year‐old man with a creatinine of 330 µmol/L presents with a urinary tract infection and is given IV gentamicin. He is taking lisinopril and candesartan for blood pressure control, frusemide (furosemide) and spironolactone for heart failure, insulin for control of diabetes and simvastatin. He is given paracetamol and ibuprofen for pain relief and undergoes a CT scan of his abdomen with contrast. The next day his creatinine is 580 µmol/L.
