Case 3: A Patient Admitted with Generalized Abdominal Pain
CASE
A 35 year‐old woman is admitted with generalized abdominal pain. There is no past medical history. She has been unwell for 1 week and has symptoms of polydipsia and polyuria. She has been given morphine in the emergency department for her pain and is now a little drowsy, but responds to voice by eye opening. Respiratory rate is recorded at 30 breaths/min. Her heart rate is 100 beats/min in sinus rhythm and blood pressure is 100/60 mmHg. She has sweet‐smelling breath.
