Case 7: A Patient with Acute Confusional State
CASE
A 71‐year‐old woman was brought to hospital by her daughter with whom she lived. She had been increasingly unwell for 2 days, initially complaining of muscle aching, and then becoming agitated and confused. There was a background of type 2 diabetes, now treated with insulin, and chronic renal failure, for which she had started haemodialysis via a veno‐venous catheter 3 months previously. She was taking over a dozen medications.
