Case 16: A Patient with Light‐Headedness and Faintness
CASE
A 34‐year‐old woman attends for a routine cervical smear. She has a history of seasonal hayfever and eczema for which she takes antihistamines and nasal spray. Thirty minutes after the smear she begins to feel light headed and faint. Examination reveals diffuse erythema, wheezy chest and hypotension. A diagnosis of anaphylaxis is made and her symptoms improve after a dose of adrenalin.
