Case 13: A Patient with Recurrent Tongue Swelling
CASE
A 69‐year‐old woman presents to you with recurrent angioedema, affecting the tongue for the last 3 months, and waking her at night; she has also had attacks at various times during the day. She has never had this before. She lives by herself and is quite anxious about this. She believes that she is allergic to potatoes, as she has always eaten these the evening before the attacks happen. She has previously been fit and well, apart from moderate hypertension for which she has been taking lisinopril for the last five years. Ultrasound of the abdomen shows normal liver, spleen and kidneys.
