Case 7: A Patient with Atopic Dermatitis and Worsening Itch and Rash
CASE
A previously fit and well 23‐year‐old female trainee solicitor known to have atopic dermatitis (AD) is admitted ill with a fever and tachycardia and a 2‐day history of worsening itch and rash and actual skin pain. She is on the combined oral contraceptive and has been using the same topical steroids for years. The pulse is 120 beats/min and the BP 95/65 mmHg. She has erythrodermic eczema with multiple small areas of erosion, oozing and impetiginization. There are no other focalizing signs.
