Case 18: A Patient with Peri‐Orbital Oedema and Erythema
CASE
A 60‐year‐old man presents with a month's history of peri‐orbital oedema and erythema and a generalized skin rash. He complains also of lethargy, weight loss, shortness of breath and a productive cough. He has been a heavy smoker in the past. Examination of his skin shows a violaceous rash that is distributed around his eyes and on the extensor surfaces of his arms. You suspect he has dermatomyositis.
