Case 13: A Patient with Café‐Au‐Lait Macules
CASE
An 11‐year‐old boy is referred to the paediatric outpatient clinic with 10 café‐au‐lait macules distributed on his trunk. He was born at 40 weeks gestation and since birth has had an uneventful childhood. His mother has neurofibromatosis (NF) type 1. Physical examination reveals more than two soft nodules on his limbs, which on biopsy are in keeping with neurofibromas.
