Case 5: A Patient with Lethargy and Weight Loss
CASE
A 55‐year‐old male presents to his GP feeling lethargic and having lost weight. He has noted a minor blotchy rash on his lower limbs and some numbness over the ring finger of his left hand. Otherwise he is in good health and requires only a thiazide diuretic for hypertension, which developed about two years ago. He is a non‐smoker, non‐drinker and lives with his wife and two sons. Physical examination reveals a red raised rash on his lower limbs and decreased light touch sensation over the little finger of the left hand with no detectable weakness.
