Case 8: A Patient Who Has Vision Difficulties While Driving at Night
CASE
A 55‐year‐old bus driver complained of a 5‐month history of increasing difficulty seeing road signs and glare, particularly from oncoming car headlights while driving at night. He wore separate reading and distance glasses and his referring optometrist noted that his prescription had become more myopic (short‐sighted). His past medical history included uveitis, asthma and he recalled a right‐sided squash‐ball ocular injury 15 years earlier.
On examination, right visual acuity was 6/18 correcting to 6/12 with a pin‐hole; left visual acuity was 6/9 correcting to 6/7.5 with pin‐hole.
