Case 7: A Child with a Headache and Swollen Eyelids
CASE
A 7‐year‐old boy attends A&E with his mother. He complains of having a 4‐day history of headache, and over the last day or so, his right eyelids have become increasingly swollen such that now he is having difficulty opening his right eye. His eye has also become ‘more red’. He has no past ocular history.
On examination, his temperature is 38.5°C. His right visual acuity is 6/7.5 and left visual acuity is 6/4. He was found to have restricted eye movements and pain when trying to look in different directions and a mild right proptosis.
