Case 30: A Patient with a Blistering Rash
CASE
A 75‐year‐old man had a 1‐week history of a tingling around his right forehead and right eye pain. Two days later he developed a blistering rash on his forehead. The rash became increasingly painful with a yellow, foul‐smelling discharge. He became increasingly unwell and feverish. His GP referred him to hospital for an assessment. On examination of his rash you observe crops of vesicles with areas of golden brown crust plus yellow discharge (Fig. 0010). He was alert and orientated. Examination of the central nervous system, chest and heart were normal.
